The philosophy of the mix for this Dj
Kicks is a little diffirent. « People's attention span in shorter when they're listening to a CD without the atmosphere of a party. Maybe they're cleaning the house or looking at the sleeve in their hands. » Looking for « that technical Edge », Stacey first mixed DJ Kicks live at the decks, then took it into the studio for some serious digital editing. There he also addded a new track, using his production talents to sample and splice togheter a unique tune using Sounds from the other tracks in the mix. The results are more melodic than a night in a club might be. « A lot of the music on there is based on emotions. Rhythm is not all, although it's the basis of music. » Stacey Pullen's DJ Kicks is not a one-shot mix, it's a technological adventure. « I aim to catch the attention span right off the mark.
