![]() The Sushi Club Sushidelic 1x CD Elekrolux 1999 |
The problem with the Elektrolux label is certainly the amount of
releases over the relatively short time the label exists and as a side
effect of this, also the number of mediocre releases. The biggest exception to this so far is without a doubt Sushidelic from The Sushi
Club or the alias for Tomio Tremmel. The Sushidelic is a very strong album offering a blended sound of loungy electronics and ambient. The album can be considered both as a long listening experience as well as a bundle of separate strong tracks. Take Niku-Jaga, 8 minutes of slowly build up ambient electronics. Subtle sound effects and warm fuzzy melodies are catching your attention immediately. Takoyaki brings in a touch of very soft drum'n'bass full of spacey synth effects. Oshinko builds up for over 2 minutes and evolves into mid nineties sounding ambient electronics, again extremely well done. Sushidelic phonk comes in 2 parts and 2 flavours, the first being the soft intro, the latter the very sophisticated sounding electronic funk with vague touches of techno and ambient. Another favourite of mine is Tonkatsu with the same concept of slow ambient buildup towards chilly electronics that eventually evolves in spacey synths and ditto space voice samples. Last track I want to bring to your attention is Shabu-Shabu, an over 9 minutes space trip. A soft baseline, moody melodic lines all wrapped up in spacey synths is the recipe. In short, the Sushidelic has not a single disappointing track. The Sushi Club offers 13 tracks or almost 74 minutes of sheer listening pleasure. If you thought that after the mid nineties, no one would be able to match the spacey electronics of that time, think again after checking out Sushidelic ez |
