Jivaro
Jivarodelia
EWB - CD 2002
Swedish producer Henrik Dahl delivers an eclectic techno album that reaches out into dub and electro areas. Fortunatly the accent does not lie on pounding beats nor soaring kickdrums but rather on rhythm, melody, downtempo, midtempo, and breakbeats.

The tracks where electro or dubby influences are highest, like the detroitish "Electro-Fun" and the smokey "Jivaro Dub", seem to be the best tracks of the lot. Other highlights are the solid old-skool techno of Hydrologic and the hypnotizing ambientish Solros, with a weird cut-up voice that's impossible to understand until the very last second when the deformation slowly fades away. Thanks to diversity and attention to detail these manage to rise above average and stay interesting. The remaining tracks are slightly disappointing as they tend to be repetitive and uninspired, but that's a common flaw in most techno.
In the end this certainly isn't a bad album, although it lacks some originality.
