If Oliver Braun isn't in it for the money you might ask what his drive is to release records?

Well, as we see the title of the first track (and basically that of the others two), "pfennig inc. (euro fear / I don't give a cent - bastard)", you might say cramping as much weird nonsense in a track title as possible...but that's just a nice catch that goes with the nifty comics sleeve design. The drive that's in the music itself is that of electronic funk cut up in bits'n pieces and stuffed into the blender alongside the best in advanced broken beat. If I tell you he uses the sound of a rubber duck as a trumpet, you get the picture.

On all four tracks, that mix of funk and weird-that's-not-so-weird-in-todays-electronics works remarkabely well. There's a certain groove that gets going but you have to read it between the lines. It can suddenly stop or just pick up speed in a shrieking clatter of dry beats like in "Wonzo's Easter Tag (recouped zero - so what!?)".

The crisp sound of the now sadly stopped 'Clear' electronics label comes back to life on the B-side. "Dot.cum (1000 pesos? - no start up!)" goes back to that superb slick and yet distorted sound, to the fat broken beat and the clean moogs. Compelling.

All in all, it's true that you can hardly resist this funk that's taken three steps further, but when some sound layers seem missing, you might accidently twist your ankle while trying to figure out which ones. Take care.
