course the center person in all these, the deejay and that this book is enjoyable to read, very informative and mostly complete, you'll
understand that you should for once not rush to the record store but to the book store to get hold of a copy. For anyone involved into
all forms of dance music, past, present and future, especially involved in deejaying or simply enjoying clubbing, Last night a DJ
saved my life is essential reading. The book covers the very beginning
of the definition of a deejay first on radio stations evolving into people with mega artist status. Through exciting stories, it shows
how the deejay evolves from a more technical person just playing records into a person influencing the complete dance music industry. Through numerous examples, credit is given to deejays exploring and creating new techniques of deejaying and entertaining crowds of clubbers. Beat-mixing, scratching, spinbacks, cuts, ... it's all there. The late sixties & early seventies northern soul scene, the rise and fall of the disco scene, the gay parties in New York, the start of house music and techno music, the eighties rap and hiphop scene, everything imaginable where deejays are involved is there. Stories tell about world's greatest deejays such as David Mancuso, Larry Levan Grand Master Flash, Frankie Knuckles .. and so much more.
