Higher Intelligence Agency
Freefloater
1x CD Beyond Records, 1995

Deep Space Network meets Higher Intelligence Agency
1x CD Source Records, 1996
I learned to appreciate and like the sound of the Higher Intelligence Agency by listening frequently to internet radio www.MusicForHackers.com After hearing a few tracks, their Freefloater album soon landed on my wanted list. Searching a little bit here and there in online record shops did reveal Higher Intelligence Agency releases sometimes but none of these were in stock. So far the often encountered problem with all these online shops. By coincidence, I landed in the "Rive Gauche" record shop in Mons (Belgium) which seems to be the only real cool record shop by the way in Mons (if not let us know!) and to my surprise in the middle of a cool series of electronic albums, 2 Higher Intelligence Agency CD's popped up : Freefloater and Deep Space Network meets Higher Intelligence Agency. No doubt this was my lucky day.
Personally, Higher Intelligence Agency can get a place in my selection of all-time favourite ambient electronic albums, together with Future Sound of London, Pete Namlook, Global Communication's mid
nineties work, Biosphere's mid nineties work & Bill Laswell's ambient explorations and of course S.A.W. from Aphex Twin. Being from '95 and '96 respectively, one can of course clearly hear a more or less typical electronic sound of that time with even what we would typically call a touch of acid. But actually we don't care. These are just 2 cool ambient chill albums, with deepness and spirit we missed to buy at the time they were released and are happy to have found them now and can still enjoy the ever floating changing electronic futuristic soundscapes by Higher Intelligence Agency.
No need to go into details about each track on the albums. This type of albums is a total experience. If you're into Future Sound of London, Biosphere or were into Tangerine Dream & Kraftwerk, check out the Higher Intelligence Agency and you won't be disappointed!
