![]() Gota Day & night 1xCD Instinct |
Smooth jazz, acid jazz, jazzgrooves, loungy vibes, whatever the name,
Gota brings it with such an ease and so fluid, as if it is a natural born gift or talent. And unfortunately, this smoothness and fluidness
is giving this album a slightly over-polished feeling. "Day & night"
contains 11 new tracks. One for one clean and nicely produced compositions. Smooth sometimes, a little groovier and funkier at other times. But what we really miss is something amazing, something that is catching our attention while listening. This is all nice background music for when you're having a dinner and conversation, but when just listening and focussing on the music itself, it all seems a little thin and boring at times. We miss the really phat bass and slick grooves from previous Gota releases. As such, there is not really a track standing out on this "Day & Night" album. It falls into the category of nice wine & dine candlelight smooth jazz. Get the album if you need some musical wallpaper for a romantic night, but don't expect an amazing musical experience from it. It is as if Gota has his wild youth years behind him and is now over seriously involved into polished tunes. We hope he'll find some of his former wildness back in the future to bring us more interesting vibes. ez |
