Rush Hour is not only an excellent record store in Amsterdam, they
have now also composed their own compilation. First of all, being compiled in Amsterdam, this means this album is well .. smokey !
Its tracks float between smooth electrojazz, light drum'n'bass, future
soul and dubby ambient. The composers have choosen tracks that all offer sufficient interesting original and creative music while
maintaining attention to melody and smoothness and as such the selection also achieves a high level of consistency. Not a single
track is disappointing and while listening, or rather chilling, we float from one pearl to the other, like some work from
Aardvark "Implant" and "Ambi Pur" , David Caron and the excellent "Long wait"
or Sonar Lodge for loungy future soul with warm vocals and moody
melody lines on "No words" and "L.O.V.E" In short, the Rush Hour compilation has the potential to become an all time classic candidate ! ez/aug 2000 |
