Thievery Corporation
Adbuctions and Reconstructions
V.A.
1 x CD Eighteenth Street Lounge Music
The Thievery Corporation is back and this time with a selection of remixes. Although, we are always a little sceptical towards remixes, we have given the Thievery Corporation a chance and they've convinced us. This is the material that got through the hands of the Thievery Corporation. The overall concept of this album is a blend of acid jazz, dub and here and there a touch of pop.

The tracks that got through the hands of the Thievery Corporation are :

David Byrne : Dance on vaseline : Midtempo cut with a touch of acid jazz and pop
Baaba Maal : I will follow you : Dreamy ekletic dubby music
Slide Five : KC Doppler : Acid jazz-alike music unfortunately without real inspiration
Rockers HiFi : Transmission Central : Driving vocal dub. Not really our cup of tea.
Stereolab : Tickertape of the unconscious : Superb dreamy and warm midtempo with very nice and high and dreamy female vocal
Pizzicato 5 : Porno 3003 : Feels more like an erotic musical experience. Moody jazz slightly junglized
Thunderball : Hijack : Could be nice, but stupid mass hysteria-like vocals distract too much
Edson Cordeiro : Ave Maria : Yes, you can here a church-like Ave Maria singing through the dubby beats
Waldeck : Defenseless : Soulfull poppy downbeat tempo
Gus Gus : Polyester Day : Wow, what a nice chilling experience
Hooverphonic : This strange effect : Yes, it's a rework of the pop classic, even with this remix, still sounding bad.
Avatars of dub : Sexelevatormuzik : Another recommended chill experience
Black Uhuru : Boof'n baff 'n biff : Pure dub, for fans.
Ursula 1000 : Savoir Faire : Midtempo acid jazz with a touch of oldskool
Urbs'n chaoz : More dreams and chills to relax.

It's clear, that this compilation contains a few selections of low quality, but we found just enough substance to buy it and enjoy it.
